چکیده

September 2013 769 Recent IT technologies and online services are tremendously altering the way people create, use and share geographic information (Elwood, 2008). Enabled by the widespread use of hand-handled GPS, geo-tags, high-resolution graphics and access to the Internet and Web 2.0, spatial data can be collected and produced voluntarily by the untrained general public. This has been termed Geoweb, Volunteered Geographic Information, and neogeography (Goodchild, 2007; Crampton, 2008). Different from the traditional way exclusive to professionals in collecting spatial data, an individual can be seen as an intelligent sensor contributing to local geographic information (Goodchild, 2007). This innovation profoundly impacts the discipline of geography, as well as sociology and politics, by providing innovative solutions other than traditional methods such as focus groups, interviews and surveys (Elwood, 2008; Tsou and Leitner, 2013). The Geoweb, according to Crampton et al. (2013), is not only a simple collection of latitude-longitude coordinates attached with information, but a “socially produced space that blurs the oft-reproduced binary of virtual and material spaces”. i n t r o d u c t i o n Understanding the

Assessment of Neonate's Congenital Hypothyroidism Pattern Using Poisson Spatio-temporal Model in Disease Mapping under the Bayesian Paradigm during 2011-18 in Guilan, Iran

Background: Congenital Hypothyroidism (CH) is one of the reasons for mental retardation and defective growth in neonates. It can be treated if it is diagnosed early. The congenital hypothyroidism can be diagnosed using newborn screening in the first days after birth. Disease mapping helps to identify high-risk areas of the disease. This study aimed to evaluate the pattern of CH using the Poisso...

How to Extract Relevant Knowledge from Tweets?

Tweets exchanged over the Internet are an important source of information even if their characteristics make them difficult to analyze (e.g., a maximum of 140 characters; noisy data). In this paper, we investigate two different problems. The first one is related to the extraction of representative terms from a set of tweets. More precisely we address the following question: are traditional info...

Evaluation of Tests for Separability and Symmetry of Spatio-temporal Covariance Function

In recent years, some investigations have been carried out to examine the assumptions like stationarity, symmetry and separability of spatio-temporal covariance function which would considerably simplify fitting a valid covariance model to the data by parametric and nonparametric methods. In this article, assuming a Gaussian random field, we consider the likelihood ratio separability test, a va...

Spatio-temporal trend and change detection of temperature and precipitation of Kashafroud basin

The study of meteorological characteristics and its variability is important in assessing the climate change impacts for water resources management. Trend analysis of hydrological and meteorological time series is a method for determining the change in climate variables that is performed with different parametric and non-parametric methods. In this research, the annual, seasonal and monthly tr...
